CONCORD, N.C. — The town of Matthews handed down an approval this week to potentially activate hundreds of acres for new development.
At its meeting on Monday, the Matthews Board of Commissioners approved a town-initiated rezoning request pertaining to an approximately 200-acre site. The town worked on the rezoning with the landowner, Hendrick Automotive Group, and Central Piedmont Community College, which has its Levine Campus on a neighboring site.
The site is off CPCC Lane and Campus Ridge Road, near Interstate 485 and U.S. Route 74.
The rezoning approval allows for the development of an advanced manufacturing campus there, along with a new public safety training facility neighboring the CPCC campus.
