CHARLOTTE — Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over massive traffic slowdowns Friday afternoon at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
At around 4:30 p.m., long lines could be seen on the lower-level roadway.

Airport officials are advising people to arrive at least two hours before their departure time due to significant delays. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are also assisting with traffic.
Drivers are also encouraged to use Billy Graham Parkway as an alternate route.

Last week, Channel 9 reported the departures drop-off area is closed while crews work on a large renovation project, including a canopy outside the airport. That means all passengers are being picked up and dropped off from the arrivals area currently.
If all goes according to pan, the departure area will reopen Oct. 12.
