CONOVER, N.C. — One person was killed in Conover when their vehicle collided head-on into another car on Tuesday afternoon, the Conover Police Department said.
Around 5 p.m., police said a 2017 Nissan passenger car was driving south on Section House Road near Cone Court when it crossed the center double yellow lines and hit a 2015 Lexus SUV head-on.

Ivan Nolasco, 26, of Newton, was driving the Nissan. Police said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Lexus SUV was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the wreck.
Conover police said an investigation into the cause of this crash is ongoing.
