SALISBURY, N.C. — Crews will clean up the site Monday where a train derailed in Salisbury over the weekend.

Officials with Norfolk Southern said three train cars fell off the tracks just before 1 p.m. near West Innes Street.

Hazmat crews were at the scene of the derailment all afternoon Sunday.

Officials said there were no injuries.

The derailment caused a diesel fuel leak that Norfolk Southern crews and contractors worked to clean up.

Neighbors who were asked to stay inside after the derailment are now free to leave their homes.

Officials are trying to determine if a possible soft spot on the tracks caused the derailment.
