CHARLOTTE — A Union County native is celebrating her 112th birthday in Charlotte Wednesday.
In 1910, the first public radio broadcast was made, Halley’s Comet was visible from Earth and Annie Wilson was born.
“I had no idea I would live this long,” she said.

“Weekdays usually I just do nothing, read something,” Wilson said. “I like to get in the car and ride around town, see the town.”
She gets asked all the time what the secret to a long life is. Wilson said she’s never done anything special, she’s just living.
“Oh, she worked. She has always wanted to work. She really didn’t care about being a housewife. She wanted to work, and be with people so much,” a friend said.
According to the Guinness World Records, the oldest living person is 119 years old. She lives in Japan.
