LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — The Lincoln County Communications Center is the latest victim of a ransomware attack.
The IT department said it started noticing issues with servers at about 8:30 p.m. and employees started investigating.
The county is not aware of any specific ransom requests, but officials contacted the National Guard, FBI and Lincoln County Sheriff's Office for help.
Earlier this month, hackers took down the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office website, which brought down crucial servers.
That hacker demanded a ransom.
