The shooting happened just after 11:15 p.m. at the Citgo station on South Boulevard near Tyvola Road. Investigators said the clerk was locking up the business when the suspect forced him back inside at gunpoint.
Police said the 23-year-old employee was shot in the stomach as the robber left the store. He was taken to the hospital and police said he is expected to survive.
As he was fleeing, police said the suspect also shot into a vehicle that was driving by, but the person inside was not hit.
CMPD used its helicopter and K-9s to help find the shooter, but no arrests have been made.
Police released surveillance photos of the robber, but it's tough to make out any distinguishing characteristics because he wore a ski mask and was covered from head to toe.
