Gun owners face penalties as bump stock ban goes into effect

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Gun owners had by Tuesday to either destroy their bump stock or turn it in to their local Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives office.

The Charlotte ATF office told Channel 9 people have been turning in their bump stocks, a device that turns certain firearms into a machine gun.
