CHARLOTTE — As fall finally arrives one of the season’s most popular activities is already underway at several area farms.
We’ve compiled a list of apple orchards and farms within a short drive from the Charlotte area where you can pick your own apples.
We’ve also included a link to each farm’s website to check harvest availability before planning your trip.

North Carolina

Open Sunday only from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. You can pick your own apples through Oct. 27.

Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Grandad’s offers fall activities on the weekend, including apple picking on select weekends.

Open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They offer u-pick and we-pick options.

Open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. U-pick at the orchard is a guided experience.

Apple Hill Orchard & Cider Mill

Open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A “Picking Pass” is required for each person who wishes to pick their own apples or flowers. The pass gives access to the orchard grounds and flower field. Children 2 and younger are admitted free. The cost is $3.50 per person (no additional taxes or fees).

South Carolina

Open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sections of the farm may be restricted during wedding ceremonies so check the event calendar on their website before you visit.
Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill
1860 Black Highway, York, S.C., 29745
The farm stand is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Reservations are required for picking. Pre-pricked apples are available at the farm stand.
