CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Samaritan's Feet and Charlotte city leaders, including Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden handed out shoes and socks to 500 people Saturday.

The organization wants to create a world where everyone has shoes.
The founder grew up in Africa without shoes and knows the impact they can have.
“Today, here in Charlotte, we don't know if we're putting the shoes on the next governor of North Carolina,” founder Manny Ohonme said. “Maybe we're putting the shoes on the next CEO of Bank of America, of Truist, of Wells Fargo -- maybe of the president of the United States.”
It was the fourth year the organization has had the event.
