CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — The opioid epidemic touches every type of person and that includes expectant mothers.
One group in Cabarrus County is working to provide the critical prenatal care they need while treating their addictions too.

“It’s just I want to get high. I want to feel better. I don’t want to be sick. I don’t want to hurt and a lot of times people will do anything at all costs to stop the hurting,” said expectant mother Desiree Artz.

The program called Substance Use Network or SUN project can be contacted at 704-920-1289. If a live person does not answer, they will get a call back. The line is consistently monitored, the program manager said.
