Grocer with a unique model to soon debut in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There will soon be a new competitor in town for your grocery dollars. Farmstead, a San Francisco-based company that offers grocery delivery service — but has no traditional, bricks-and-mortar stores, plans to debut here in mid-November.

Farmstead buys directly from wholesalers and uses proprietary, artificial intelligence technology to anticipate demand, stock its warehouse accordingly and map out the best routes for its delivery workers.
