CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Earth Fare has begun inventory liquidation across its 50-store footprint. The Asheville-based organic and natural foods grocer said liquidation will include merchandise at “significant” price reductions as well as store fixtures. It also is pursuing a sale of assets in whole or in parts, according to a news release.
“Earth Fare is not in a financial position to continue to operate on a go-forward basis,” the company said in a statement.
Earth Fare operates seven stores in the Charlotte market. The grocer says employees at those locations and the company’s corporate offices have been notified of plans to close, pursuant to the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.
