Grier Heights unveils new ‘Community is Family’ exhibit in open house held Saturday

CHARLOTTE — History was brought to life in Grier Heights on Saturday.

In collaboration with the Levine Museum of the New South and the Grier Heights Community, a free open house was held.

This event unveiled their new exhibit ‘Grier Heights: Community is Family’, a traveling exhibit highlighting the history of Grier Heights as one of Charlotte’s first independent Black communities.

Charlotte City Councilman Malcolm Graham was at the Grier Heights event, explaining how the city is working to address concerns within the city.

Updates were given on the city’s budget, transportation and public safety.
