Josh Stein was sworn in as North Carolina’s governor

RALEIGH — Josh Stein was sworn in as North Carolina’s 76th governor on Wednesday.

Stein was elected after a contentious race against Republican opponent Mark Robinson, who at the time, was serving as the state’s lieutenant governor.

“To the people of North Carolina, thank you for putting your trust in me,” Stein said. “The work ahead will surely be challenging but the time is now to build a safer stronger North Carolina.

Stein takes over for former Gov. Roy Cooper.
