Golf course property near Charlotte has a new owner

Charlotte developer Mel Graham has sold The Club at Longview to an Orlando, Florida-based boutique firm that buys and manages golf and country clubs.

The sale price was not disclosed, but the deal has closed. Concert Golf Partners bought the 500-acre Club at Longview, including an 18-hole, 160-acre golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

The Club at Longview opened in 2003. It’s located in Waxhaw in Union County, 20 miles from uptown Charlotte.

Longview, a gated residential golf community, encompasses 1,000 acres and 320 homes. Most homes there are now selling for $2 million to $3 million.

Concert Golf CEO Peter Nanula, in an interview with CBJ, said no major changes are expected to the course, though he did promise to add pine straw along the fairways a la Augusta National Golf Club. That is something Longview members have requested.

Over the next two to three years, Nanula said Concert Golf will invest several million dollars into upgrades at the 25,000-square-foot main clubhouse and the 10,000-square-foot activity center.
