Girl Tribe says new SouthPark store will serve as expansion prototype

CHARLOTTE — Girl Tribe’s SouthPark store sets the stage for the brand’s future expansion.

The retailer opened its 1,800-square-foot space in Morrison Shopping Center on Oct. 29. That upscale shopping center is at Sharon and Colony roads.

“This is just the beginning. We have a pretty strong growth plan in the next few years. There’s a pretty strong return to retail,” says Carrie Barker.

Barker co-founded Girl Tribe with Sarah Baucom in 2014.

The SouthPark store has a retro-modern vibe. The space boasts plenty of glossy pink and purple with pops of neon. Arches, wood paneling and white concrete floors are incorporated into the design, which takes advantage of 15-foot ceilings. There’s a custom Girl Tribe photo booth. A green-wall installation by the Savage Way will serve as a backdrop for photos, complete with a neon sign that reads, “She had a marvelous time.” The arched-entry dressing rooms provide another Instagrammable spot, with mustard-colored velvet curtains and custom wallpaper. The space has five storefront windows, which infuse the space with light.

The store carries all of Girl Tribe’s collections. Custom Shop is set up on site, offering customizations to sweats, tees and accessories.
