CHARLOTTE — Girl Tribe is adding SouthPark to its roster of stores. Expect a 1,800-square-foot boutique to open in Morrison Shopping Center later this year, around Labor Day, says co-founder Sarah Baucom.

That upscale shopping center is at Sharon and Colony roads.

“We have been scouting for about a year for our next location,” Baucom says. “The exciting part of going into a shopping center is it gives people a place to park and shop.”

She and Carrie Barker are behind Girl Tribe, known for its girly graphic tees and tanks — and ongoing efforts to empower women. It also carries clothing, accessories and jewelry. Plans also call for a sew-and-cut line, which is in development.

Baucom expects to invest roughly $75,000 to transform the new space. Plans call for that store to have a number of installations that will provide shoppers with Instagrammable moments.

“We’re going to do what it takes to make this a really dynamic, unique location,” she says.

This will be the second brick-and-mortar location following the one in South End.
