MATTHEWS, N.C. — A 12-year-old attacked by a shark off the North Carolina coast has gotten her final fitting for a prosthetic arm.
Kiersten Yow tested out her new hardware last week.

Her mother said Kiersten picked up how to use it pretty quickly and even gave a thumbs up at one point but still needs a lot more practice.
She said Kiersten still has to re-learn several tasks.
A shark bit off part of her arm and seriously damaged her leg in the Oak Island attack back in June.
She's from Guilford County.
She spent part of her rehab at Levine Children's hospital in Charlotte.
Meteorologist Vicki Graf spent some time with her in September and was impressed by Kiersten's positive attitude.
The same day Kiersten was attacked, a 16-year old lost his arm in a separate attack just miles away.
In all, more than a dozen other people were bitten by sharks off the Carolina coast this year.
