An investigation is underway tonight by the U.S Postal Service after witnesses saw a postal worker dumping bins of mail into the woods.

It took five U.S. postal investigators more than two hours to pick up every piece of mail after it was found in a ditch in Georgia.

A video appears to show a postal worker grabbing mail from the truck and tossing it over the fence.

Residents in the community say they can't believe a government worker would actually do something like that.

“A government worker is doing this kind of stuff, it’s just ridiculous. There have been times where I didn't receive my mail, and to think back this is what's happening?” resident Neil Carr said.

The U.S. Postal Service issued this statement:

"The postal service condemns, in the strongest possible sense, behavior that jeopardizes the security and sanctity of the U.S. mail."

It took more than a dozen bins to collect all of the mail that had been dumped, which is a federal offense.

It's unclear what type of disciplinary actions will be taken against the worker.
