Driver of speeding Camaro looses control, dies in Gaston County crash

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The driver of a Chevrolet Camaro died Saturday after a crash on Interstate 85 in Gaston County, police said.

The crash happened on I-85 near North New Hope Road around 5:15 p.m.

The Camaro was speeding in the southbound lanes when it lost control and hit several vehicles, a witness told police.

The Camaro’s driver died after they ran off the side of the road and hit multiple trees, police said. The other drivers had minor or no injuries.

Their name has not been released.
