GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia police officer was arrested and charged with assaulting a woman on Thursday.
The woman Joshua McSwain is accused of hurting didn’t want to talk about the alleged incidents that she said happened Feb. 15.
In the arrest warrant, she claimed McSwain assaulted her by throwing a "vanity stool" at her, hitting her in the "face and nose.”
McSwain has already faced a judge and is out on bond. According to his release, he cannot "possess any firearms."
A police spokeswoman said McSwain is on paid leave pending further investigation into the charges.
McSwain's next court date is late next month. His attorney would not comment on the case.
