Murder suspect surrenders to authorities during standoff at Gastonia home, officials say

GASTONIA, N.C. — Authorities arrested a murder suspect during a standoff at a west Gastonia home on North Boyd Street Tuesday afternoon.

The arrest of Terry Antonio Lomick, 41, of Gastonia, is in connection with a homicide investigation from May 27.

Detectives said a man was killed in a shooting shortly before midnight on May 27 on Rankin Avenue and North King Street. They identified the suspect as Lomick.

Gastonia police said first responders found the victim inside a car. He had been shot in his upper body. He was later identified as Garreth Tomar Rondaz Bickham, 35, of Shelby.

Authorities were still at the home on North Boyd Street after Lomick surrendered to authorities.

Detectives continue to investigate a possible motive for the murder and whether Lomick and Bickham knew each other.
