GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia Honey Hunters Baseball, one of the newest clubs in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, introduced its official Honey Hunters mascot – “Bam Hunter.”
“In Honey Hunters Country, he’s known for blasting the ball past the outfield wall with ease. Always one to liven up the party and get the fans going, Bam is known to run the bases for hours on end – playing pickle with his teammates, taking in a friendly game of freeze tag, or just keeping his senses (and claws) sharp if he should ever have to protect his territory from invasive species,” the team’s spokesperson said Friday.
The Honey Hunters received over 500 name ideas, and the top five submissions were presented for voting during our mascot-naming campaign, which ended on Thursday.
“We want to thank our fans for helping us name our mascot,” said David Martin, COO, Gastonia Honey Hunters. “His name invokes the explosion of the ball off the bat and the roar of the crowd. We are excited about Bam’s arrival and look forward to introducing him to the community. We are confident that our fans will fall in love with Bam and his friendly, fun, smart, curious, and a bit mischievous nature.”
