GASTONIA, N.C. — The Gastonia Fire Department was called to a house fire Tuesday after one of its own spotted the blaze.
An off-duty Gastonia firefighter saw the house with heavy smoke coming out of it and called 911.
Officials said the heavy smoke turned into a fully involved house fire when fire crews arrived on the scene.
Firefighters were able to gain control of the blaze within 10 minutes.
One firefighter suffered minor burns to the face and is expected to be okay.
Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire.
The Gastonia Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire.
