Brandon Bellamy, 48, was unanimously approved to take over the new unnamed Atlantic League team.

It has been 50 years since the sport has had a black majority own, a speaker said Tuesday.

"This is an especially moving moment for me," said Bellamy, who is the owner of a real estate development team in Washington, D.C.

In the video at the top of this webpage, Gaston County reporter Ken Lemon was at the announcement and has more on the new owner and team.
