GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gaston County confirmed its first case of rabies in an animal in 2025.
Animal Care says a family dog killed a fox at a home along Plymouth Street in Gastonia.
That fox later tested positive for rabies.
However, no humans had contact with the animal.
Animal Care plans to keep the exposed dog in quarantine for four months, which is required by the state.
