GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A bat with rabies was found Tuesday inside a home on Maple Circle in Belmont, officials with Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement confirmed.

The bat was impounded and sent to the lab the same day where it tested positive for rabies.
Animal Care and Enforcement told neighbors about it and verified pets had rabies vaccinations.
This is the second reported case of rabies in Gaston County this year.
