Local church gives away $10,000 worth of gas in northwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — A local church in northwest Charlotte gave away thousands of dollars in gas to drivers Saturday morning.

Kingdom City Church hosted a “Gas on God” giveaway. The church gave away a total of $10,000 in gas, as well as a drive-up prayer, shopping gift cards, and encouragement to those who come to the Mobil Gas Station on Brookshire Boulevard.

The church’s pastor, Prophet Brian Carn, said it is important for the church to give back to the community, especially during a time where gas prices are soaring.

Organizers were on hand to help direct the line of cars waiting to fill up their tank.

The giveaway started an hour earlier than expected and ended 30 minutes later than expected.

Over 300 people were able to get free gas. Each car received up to $35 of gas.
