CONCORD, N.C. — A gang member with a long and violent history, has been arrested after the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office said he ran from a deputy and led a chase that lasted close to an hour Sunday morning.
It all started on George Liles Parkway in Concord when a Cabarrus County deputy saw Juwan Massey speeding down the wrong side of the road.
“If you don’t do something, it’s going to cause a fatality, it’s going to cause a death,” Chief Deputy James Bailey said. “That particular night, he’s a huge danger.”
The deputy tried to pull Massey over, but authorities said he took off. He got on Interstate 85 to Bruton Smith Boulevard, took Highway 29 to University City, and then he was on Interstate 485.
After he got on I-485, he headed back into Concord, where he hit stop sticks near downtown and busted all his tires.
“At that point, when the pursuit came to a conclusion, that driver jumped and ran,” Bailey said.
Police dogs quickly tracked him to an empty building, where he broke in through a basement window. Officers said Massey was then arrested and charged with 17 charges, including one for kidnapping.
