CHARLOTTE — Charlotte FC has a cool new sponsor: Frigidaire. The Major League Soccer team now features appliance maker Frigidaire’s logo on the back of players’ game jerseys — new ad space approved by the league earlier this year.
Four teams previously signed sponsors for the same jersey space: Inter Miami; Houston; LAFC (Los Angeles); and San Jose. Teams were allowed to add the logos to game jerseys beginning after the All-Star Game, played July 29.
Sponsorship-tracking firm SponsorUnited estimates the value of the back-of-jersey ads ranges from $600,000 to $4.1 million per year, depending on factors including market size, team following and so on. Charlotte FC confirmed Frigidaire signed a multi-year sponsorship for the jersey placement but declined to disclose financial terms.
