‘There is no answer’: Woman speaks out after friend was killed in quadruple shooting in Gastonia

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Channel 9 is learning more about the family involved in a terrible tragedy that happened in Gaston County this week.

The situation began with a quadruple shooting Thursday morning at a home off Forbes Road.

“Anybody that knew the family are trying to make sense to something that you can’t make sense of, and that’s where we are all at,” said Jennifer Greene, a close friend of all the shooting victims.

The person she knew best was 50-year-old Victoria Heather Moore.

“Heather was just life, she was beautiful, she was full of life,” said Greene. “There is nobody that she came into contact who did not feel special and loved.”

Police say Moore and Josiah Bumgardner were killed. Two others were left in critical condition.

“He’s in the hospital and he’s going to be paralyzed for the rest of his life,” Greene said about one of the victims.

Police say the suspects, Cory Armstrong and Camryn Moore, were tracked down in Ohio and were found dead after a brief police pursuit.

Camryn is Heather’s daughter.

“There is no answer,” Greene said. “We don’t know why. We don’t know anything. We probably are never going to.”

One of the things Greene would like to see change is the chatter on social media about the case.

“It always comes back to race, it always comes back to trans, it always comes back to drugs, and that is not what this house was. This was a loving family who embraced anybody and everybody,” said Greene. “For the people who are out there making the comments that you are making, the family does see this and you need to stop.”

So far, Gaston County investigators have not said anything about the motive in this case.

A GoFundMe has been set up so that people can contribute to the family.
