He discovered that Duke Energy offers a program to make your home more energy efficient.
The Home Energy House Call is a free in-home assessment. An energy specialist will check your house and appliances for leaks and gives you pointers on how to make your home more energy efficient.
The company also provides customers with a free kit that contains light bulbs, weather stripping, energy efficient shower heads and other items that may help your home run more efficiently.
The program is available to Duke Energy customers and there is no cost.

Stoogenke warns to watch out for scammers. The utility company will never show up at your door to offer this service out of the blue — you must schedule an appointment. The auditor will also have a Duke Energy truck, shirt and work badge.
