UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Four teens were arrested after they allegedly broke into Weddington Elementary School on Sunday night.
Union County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 10:48 p.m. to an alarm call at the school.

A deputy arrived at the school just before 11 p.m. and found two unoccupied vehicles in the parking lot.
While searching the property, the deputy found an open window and spotted Leah Young, 17, Cooper Glasgow, 17, Courtney Connell, 17, and Edward Milano, 18, inside the building.

All four teens are students at Weddington High School and face breaking and entering charges.

“School safety and security is one of our highest priorities and something we take very seriously," said Sheriff Eddie Cathey. "Fortunately, deputies were able to respond to the alarm call promptly and prevent any further criminal activity from taking place.”
The teens are due in court on Sept 10.
