FORT MILL, S.C. — A man grabbed a woman and tried to drag her toward a car Thursday while she was on a walk, Fort Mill police said.
The woman, who was staying at the Hampton Inn on Carolina Place Drive, was walking nearby just before 4:30 p.m. when a car containing two men and a woman pulled up near her.
One of the men grabbed her and succeeded in taking her cellphone, but the woman was able to escape, police said.
The man ran back to the car, but as the group was driving away, the car crashed into a tree in the parking lot of Lowes Home Improvement store.
The three people ran away on foot and officers found them soon after in a nearby shopping center.
Police took Graham Cornwell, Benjamin Hornowski, and Alicia Perlson, all from near Asheville, North Carolina, into custody.
