LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Lincoln County detectives said a former South Point High School soccer coach accused of soliciting sex online is now accused of threatening one of the investigators involved in the case.
Officials said Scott Webb sent 139 threatening email and voicemail messages to Lincoln County Detective Brent Heavner since the conviction that forced him to register as a sex offender.
According to a warrant, one of the threats stated, “I will work at your destruction and only finish when I desolate all things to you.”
Another message said, “Here is a great idea. Why don’t you take your service revolver, put it in your mouth, and pull the trigger. That is the best service you could perform for the public you useless piece of (expletive),” the warrant states.
Another message asked, “Have you put the gun in your mouth yet?” the warrant states.
Investigators said they were able to track the messages to Webb.
Webb is accused of harassing for the purpose of “abusing, annoying, threatening, terrifying and harassing Heavner.”
Webb was placed in the Gaston County jail with a $250,000 bond.
In May 2015, Webb was one of 17 men arrested in an undercover sting operation. Officers said the men all thought they were chatting with underage kids online and went to meet them for sex.
Webb was charged with soliciting a minor by computer for a sexual act and delivering marijuana, which are both felonies. He pleaded guilty and had to become a registered sex offender and was put on probation.
