MINT HILL, N.C. — Former President Donald Trump made another stop in our area Wednesday, and Chopper 9 was over the motorcade as he made his way to Mint Hill.

Trump spoke for more than an hour about jobs and the economy at the Mosack Group Facility, which is a manufacturing company.

First, he talked about a reported foreign assassination plot against him.

The 45th president started his speech focused on Iran noting the reported threats U.S. intelligence officials briefed his campaign on about a plot to assassinate him.

“If I were the president, I would inform the threatening country, in this case, Iran, that if you do anything to harm this person we are going to blow your largest cities and the country itself to smithereens,” Trump said. “We’re going to blow it to smithereens. You can’t do (make threats).”

After that, Trump pivoted to domestic issues, including manufacturing jobs, as he spoke in a facility that creates pipes, adapters, and other products.

“Under my plan, American workers will no longer be worried about losing your jobs to foreign nations,” Trump said. “Instead, foreign nations will be worried about losing their jobs to America.”

If elected, he said he would knock the federal corporate tax rate down from 21% to 15% if a company’s product is made in America.

He also said he’d tax foreign competitors of U.S. companies and offer U.S. manufacturers a 100% write-off on the costs of heavy machinery and equipment.

A few hundred supporters were at the intimate event, along with Republican candidates running down-ballot.

Gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson was not there.

Trump’s campaign has tried to distance itself from after Robinson’s latest scandal. Trump didn’t mention his name on Wednesday.

However, Trump insisted North Carolina is critical for his campaign.

“We win North Carolina. We’re going all the way,” Trump said.
