Former Panthers TE Greg Olsen to join Fox as NFL analyst after retirement

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Current Seahawks tight end and former Panther Greg Olsen told The Associated Press he has agreed to a contract with Fox Sports to become its No. 2 NFL game analyst once he retires from football.

Olsen signed a one-year, $6.9 million contract with the Seahawks earlier this offseason after spending nine seasons with the Panthers.

The New York Post was the first to report the news.

The 35-year-old Olsen will partner with Kevin Burkhardt in the booth once the 13-year NFL veteran decides to call it quits. 

Olsen was a popular figure in the Charlotte community. He was twice named a finalist for Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.

He ranks second among the Panthers’ franchise tight ends in receiving touchdowns (39) behind Wesley Walls (44) and third all-time in receiving yards and receptions behind Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad.

He also ranks fifth among tight ends in receptions (718) and yards receiving (8,444). He had 6,463 yards receiving and caught 524 passes in nine years with Carolina, the most by any Panthers tight end.
