CHARLOTTE — Former running back Emanuel Wilson, from Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), is heading to Green Bay.
After starting his college athletic career at JCSU, the undrafted rookie spent time with the Broncos in Denver earlier this May. Wilson also played in the HBCU Legacy Bowl and the NFLPA Bowl.
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named Wilson to the All-CIAA Rookie Team and Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2019. He was ranked third in the conference for rushing with over 1,000 yards, 13 touchdowns, and an average of over six yards per carry. Wilson also caught 13 passes for 86 yards.
Wilson was named the CIAA’s offensive back during the second week of the 2019 season with 12 carries for 265 yards and an average of about 22 yards per carry. He also had three touchdowns with runs ranging from 64 to 83 yards, which helped the Golden Bulls win against Benedict 34-31. He was also named BOXTOROW’s National Player of the Week.
Wilson finished his college athletic career with two seasons at Fort Valley State in Georgia. Last year, he was given second-team Division II All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association and was also the All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year.
He finished 2022 with over 1,300 yards spread across 209 carries and 17 rushing touchdowns.
Wilson will wear number 31 for the Green Bay Packers.
