HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — The celebration of life for Huntersville’s former mayor will be help Monday evening.
“Anybody that knew Jill also knew that a stuffy service was not her wish,” her obituary read. “In lieu of a service, there will be a party to celebrate her life. Please drop in between 4 to 8 p.m. at Beaver Dam in Davidson on Monday, May 2. Please feel free to dress casually.”
The town of Huntersville announced Jill Swain’s death on April 28.
Swain was elected as commissioner in 1999, where she served for eight years until being elected mayor.

She was the mayor of Huntersville from 2007 to 2015.
The former mayor served on the Huntersville Planning Board, Land Use Committee, and Huntersville Cultural Development Committee before being elected to public office.
She also served on many regional and local boards.
“We extend our sincere condolences to her family,” town officials posted on Facebook.
According to her obituary, Swain is survived by her son, daughter, sister and “too many friends too count.”
“While Jill will be remembered as a wonderful leader and ultimate connector, she will most be remembered for the positive impact she had on her community and everyone she met,” the obituary read. “She radiated a joy that would light up any room and she deeply loved her friends and family. She truly made the world a better place.”
