CLOVER, S.C. — A former Clover High School teacher has been sentenced to 90 days in jail in a plea deal in a case involving sex with a student.
Michael Landreth, 25, pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexual battery with a student age 16 or 17, without coercion or force.

Landreth was initially charged in January with sexual battery of a student and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Authorities said he bragged about buying booze for students and had sex with one.

Landreth resigned and surrendered his teaching license.
Landreth's attorney said the sex was wrong but wasn't forced. It's illegal in South Carolina for a person connected with a school to have sex with a student, even if the relationship is consensual.
