WEATHER WARNING: The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning on Friday for counties in western North Carolina. Winds could be between 25 mph and 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
- The Arctic front that moved in this morning continues to settle into our area with freezing temperatures and gusty winds.
- Temperatures fell from about 50 degrees before dawn to the upper 20s with wind chill making it feel colder.
- Expect temperatures to drop to the single digits on Friday night, something that hasn’t happened in the Charlotte area in nearly five years.
- We will see sunshine all weekend, but we won’t even get above freezing for awhile.
- This weekend is forecast to be the coldest Christmas Eve and Christmas since 1983.
- Temperatures will stay below freezing from Friday night until Sunday afternoon.
- Temperatures will start off around 10 degrees on Saturday and Saturday.
- Highs on Christmas Eve will be near freezing.
- Christmas Day’s high temperatures will be in the mid-30s.
- We’ll dig out of the deep freeze by the end of next week and expect to stay storm free through next Friday.
