Flight from Charlotte to LA makes emergency landing due to fumes

An American Airlines flight out of Charlotte-Douglas International Airport had to make an emergency landing over the weekend because of fumes in the cabin.

Officials said Flight 2057 was on its way to Los Angeles when people reported feeling sick because of an odor.

The plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Wichita, Kansas, and six crew members were checked out.

American Airlines officials said the problem was caused by a cooling fan.

The fan has been fixed and the plane is back in service, officials said.

Just last week, an American Airlines plane that took off from Charlotte-Douglas was forced to turn around due to fumes.

Passengers and crew reported getting sick from an odor, which officials told Channel 9 was caused by an oil leak.
