MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — An alligator was spotted at Myrtle Beach in the Cherry Grove area on Sunday afternoon, according to the North Myrtle Beach Ocean Rescue.
Officials told WPDE that the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources was called around 3 p.m. to remove the 5-foot-long alligator.
Officials confirmed the alligator was spotted at 17th Avenue North in the surf line.
North Myrtle Beach Ocean Rescue said its officers assisted North Myrtle Beach Animal Control and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in relocating the alligator.
Crews said the alligator was not hurt during the process.
Officers reminded the public in their Facebook post that if they see an animal out of its natural habitat, to remember it may be confused or scared and give it plenty of space until it can be removed safely.
