CHARLOTTE — The rookies for the Carolina Panthers hit the field for the first time Friday during the rookie mini camp in uptown Charlotte.

The mini camp is as much an education as it is an evaluation, with the first-year players trying to learn the scheme, language and speed of the professional game.
