GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Three firefighters are hurt after a Crowders Mountain Fire and Rescue truck overturned Saturday morning in Gastonia, according to officials.

The single-vehicle crash happened after 10:50 a.m. off Bud Wilson Road near Woodbeam Road. The crew was responding to reports of an apartment fire, Crowders Mountain Fire Chief Woodrow Thomas told Channel 9.

Three first responders were on board when the truck went off the road and overturned. They were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Thomas said.

Troopers said the fire truck crashed because it was going too fast around a curve.

Bud Wilson Road and Sparrow Dairy Road were closed for hours before reopening Saturday afternoon, according to Gaston County 911 communications.
