CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 2-dozen firefighters were busy early Friday morning trying to put out flames at an east Charlotte home.
Fire crews were called around 5:30 a.m. to the home on Seaforth Drive, near Shamrock Drive, and reported heavy flames and smoke coming from the house.
Fire officials said a 3-year-old boy in the house alerted his mother to the fire. That the woman's husband was injured when he cut his arm as he helped them escape.

Paramedics said that man would be OK.
Three dogs in the home were rescued but officials said a cat died in the fire.
It took 28 firefighters roughly 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
Investigators said the fire started behind a couch but they are not sure yet how it started.
