CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte firefighters battled a large house fire early Monday morning in northeast Charlotte.

Crews were called around 6:45 a.m. to the home on Thornwood Road, near Hidden Valley Elementary School, and reported seeing heavy flames and smoke when they arrived.

It took crews about 20 minutes to get the fire under control and no injuries were reported. Nobody was inside at the time and investigators have determined the fire was intentionally set.

Police had taken one person into custody, according to fire officials. That person's name has not been released.

Investigators said the fire caused roughly $60,000 in damage.
