CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dozens of firefighters worked to put out a house fire that seriously injured one person Friday afternoon in north Charlotte.
The fire broke out around 3:45 p.m. at a home on Crofton Spring Drive near Old Statesville Road.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene and could see thick smoke billowing from the top of the home. Firefighters could also be seen trying to put out flames in the back of the house.
The Charlotte Fire Department said 32 firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 30 minutes.
Officials told Channel 9 that one person had to be rescued from the second floor of the home and three others were able to get out on their own. One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators determined the fire was accidental and started due to unattended cooking. The estimated property loss is $125,000.
