CHARLOTTE — While firefighters with the Charlotte Fire Department were battling a massive fire at an apartment complex in SouthPark, Chopper 9 Skyzoom spotted flames coming from the roof of another building nearby.
Just after 11 a.m. Thursday, first responders called for crews at a building on Park South Drive just south of Royal Crest Drive.
The building is just a few blocks away from the scene of another fire that broke out Thursday morning.
The Charlotte Fire Department confirmed later Thursday that embers from the five-alarm fire in SouthPark created new hotspots in the area. Channel 9 crews also saw large flames shooting embers into the air.
This new video just sent to me shows the fire up close. You can see debris and ash falling as the flames rip thru the construction site. @wsoctv pic.twitter.com/q0NpGcGaWb
